What is Sporting Clay Shooting, and why is it sometimes referred to as “golf with a shotgun” ?

Sporting clay shooting is a type of shotgun shooting designed to recreate different styles of bird hunting, and is sometimes referred to as “golf with a shotgun”, as it takes place on a walk around course similar to a golf course. Each Station (Hole) has 2 trap throwers, and as with golf, each station has a different distance and presentation.

Does that mean I need a golf cart?
With the course a little over 1 km, it is possible to do on foot without difficulty. However, golf carts may be rented on site, and you are welcome to bring your own if that would make you more comfortable.

Do I need a fire arms license to shoot?
No. As long as someone on your team has a PAL,  they may rent or borrow a gun for you providing they are shooting with you. If you have registered as an individual, we will provide a PAL holder to shoot with you.

What kind of a gun do I need?
Any Shotgun capable of firing 2 shots will work.  The most common is a 12ga. But many women and children shoot a 20 ga. You may also want to bring your 28 or 410 for more of a challenge.

Do we need our own gun?
No. The host site will have shotguns available for rent.

Do I need to be on a team to take part?
No. If you have registered as an individual, we will put you on a team.
